9 Months to a New Life

1st Trimester

So September 10th marked 9 months since I started the journey to my new life.  I thought, 9 months really would mean something momentous as I brought 2 life’s into the world in 9 months, my two boys.  So I wanted to acknowledge my rebirth, my new life that happened in 9 months.   So much as happened, so much has changed….

9 months ago I went to my first weigh in at Weight Watchers and well what can I say I have never looked back.  Now don’t get me wrong those first few months on the WW program were tough.  I was starving all the time, and not going to lie I was a tad grouchy!!!!  I wanted to quit so many times, and I still have not figured out why this time I did not quit.

My Motivation, my beautiful sisters

So in the first trimester I was really struggling in getting both the nutrition and the fitness on track. Somehow for the first time the nutrition was coming pretty easy.  I found staples that really worked for me and tasted fine so I pretty much ate the same thing day in and day out with a little variety.

I did join a gym, LA Fitness, but still was struggling.  I would go to the gym but would kinda walk around, walk on the treadmill and then leave.  So starting in February I hired a personal trainer for once a week, 25 min sessions.  The first session almost killed me, I thought I was going to puke!  Luis was the trainer that challenged me and he made the comment he was surprised I did not call quits.  Unfortunately he would not continue to be my trainer and I went to Trey.  He was good and he kept me focused and actually coming back to the gym each week.

Also in the first trimester as I had the nutrition working for me and I was working the fitness, what else could I do.  So a couple of other things I did was no fast food, none and believe me this was huge as I was eating fast food every day before this started.  I also avoided family gatherings as this was always full of food and drinks.  This was hard, but not that hard as my relationship with my family was pretty strained from the last 12 months.  The weight on me had really affected my attitude and I know that I had been pretty negative about pretty much everything, so the family had no issues with me not attending gatherings, sad to say.  But just like me this was also a work in progress.

I weighted in, every week come rain or shine, good or bad I was there.  My losses were pretty consistent and I w

So in the first trimester I also kept doing runs, and at the end of the first trimester I had done 7 runs which included 5-5k’s, 1-4 miler and 1-15K.  By the time I did the final race in the first trimester I can tell you I was hooked!!  I started thinking hey this running is really helping me take off the weight, there may be something to thing to this running!

So at the end of my first trimester I was thrilled to find I was down 24.2 pounds!  I was so shocked, hey this really was working, now Teri don’t screw this up!
