12 Days and Counting

Oh Ragnar Del Sol…

What made me ever think I was ready for this type of race.  It is now 10 days until I leave for Arizona and I swear my butterflies are falcons.  There is so much to take into consideration in getting prepared for this race.  First things first and that is trying to get my runs in so that I know that I will not let the team down. That is way easier said than done, as between work and other personal things I am dealing with, trying to find time to run is really becoming difficult.  I would love to have about 12 more hours in my day, that will work right?

But, as we all know I will have to work with what I have, yep 24 hours, well technically 17 hours as I guess I have to sleep.  I am going to set a running schedule for the next week of the following so that I am ready.

Monday 5 Miles/ Personal Training

Tuesday 6 Miles

Wednesday 4 Miles

Thursday 5 Miles

Friday 7 Miles

Now on Saturday and Sunday I will be attending the CCSD Women’s Bike Camp with a very good friend Angela Lee.  I also have not ever done anything like this before but, well thats another post.  For Saturday and Sunday I doubt that there will be time or energy to do any running with the miles we will be doing on our bikes but we will have to see.  Angela will also be going to Ragnar Del Sol but she is part of the Kilty Pleasures Ragnar Team.  I do believe that this Ragnar is gong to be EPIC!

The other big part of getting ready is the packing part or for me is the trying not to over pack part.  Now there is a lot of thought that goes into this as you are sharing a van with 5 other people so there has to be room for everybody’s stuff along with mine.  I am what is known as a habitual over packer.  I have been traveling quite a bit in the past few years and it is one area I just cannot seem to improve on.  If I go away for 3 days I guarantee I have clothes for 5-6 days , I mean a girl needs choices.   But this is not the case now but luckily there are several areas out there for tips and hints on what and how to pack.  The best is from a friend of mine who does the Runner 12 Blog.  He did the blog How Do I Pack For A Relay Race and this is really one of the best as he has pictures and I am a very visual person.  There are also lots of posts on Pinterest and this is one of my favorites called Pretty Little Grub, again lots of pictures and some good ideas for the girl runner.

The packing begins

So in the next couple of weeks well 10 days to be exact I will be heading out on this great adventure. Stay tuned to see how I prepare for 200 miles of fun!!!
